The very first noted performance of Tamil actress Anjali's acting was in the Tamil movie Katrashu Tamil with the Tamil actor Jeeva and for the same movie, she got the Filmfare award of best Female debutant. 
The place of birth of Tamil actress Anjali is, Magalikuduru in Andhra Pradesh, India. Even though Anjali was born in Andra, she learnt her education in Chennai city of Tamilnadu. In the beginning, after the end of the studies of Anjali she preferred the modeling and once she has got chosen by the director Shiva Nageshwara Rao. Her first film entry was in a Tollywood movie, namely Photo, which was a thriller core story. Anjali says that she has pursued the cinema career which is the dream of her father.

Anjali's very first movie, Photo Anjali did a challenge role of a ghost who is haunting many. Followed by that thriller movie, Anjali acted in another Telugu movie namely Premalekha Raasa in the year 2007. But, unfortunately, both the first two movie of Anjali got failure in the box office. Then Anjali acted in her very first Tamil movie, Katradhu Tamil (Tamil M.A) pairing with Tamil actor, Jeeva. This first movie of Tamil actress Anjali was directed by Tamil cinema director Ram. This debut movie of Anjali in Kollywood, Katradhu Tamil got nice hit and Anjali got a strong launched good name as an actress in Tamil cinema industry too. In that period when the movie was in the cinema theaters, a famous media said about Anjali that,"a delight to watch and spellbinds the viewer with her beautiful fresh look and her performance", "a breath of fresh air" and "the perfect foil to Jeeva's plethora of emotions. For the work of Anjali in that movie, she got a couple of awards too, namely Filmfare award and Vijay Award for Best debutant actress. 
In the year 2008, Anjali acted in her very first Kannada movie namely Honganasu. Then she acted in the Tamil movie, Aayudham Seivom pairing of Anjali with Tamil actor Sundar C. followed by that, she acted in the movie Angadi Theru under the direction of Vasantha Balan which has been the remarkable movie in her career so far in the year 2010. The character name of Tamil actress Anjali in the movie, Angadi theru is, Kani, a village girl who is working in one of the peak level business going retails shops of the metro City Chennai of Tamilnadu. The core story of that movie is, the struggles that the labors of that shop facing in the hot shopping road of Chennai, T, Nagar. 
For the movie Angadi Theru, Anjali got the filmfare Award. Then Anjali acted in the movie Rettasuzhi, under the production banner of S Picture. In the movie Rettasuzhi, the Veteran directors Bharathi Raja and K. Balachander had acted. Then she acted as the main actress of the Tamil movie Magizhchi, directed by Gowthamanan. In the movie Magizhchi, anjali had acted with a bit of glamourous exposing with the actor and director of that movie, including the lip kissing scenes. Followed by the Tamil movie Magizhchee, Anjali acted in the Malayalam movie, Pavans, pairing with Jayasurya. D'Souza has been often tagged in the media as the "bubbly girl", after portraying the role of a young energetic girl in several movies, especially Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008).[91] She appeared alongside Shahid Kapoor on the fourth episode of Tere Mere Beach Mein, a celebrity chat show, hosted by Farah Khan. The theme of the show was "Second Innings", since both D'Souza and Kapoor had the same history of failures initially and success later in their acting careers.In June 2010, D'Souza was crowned as the "Brand Ambassador of the Year" at the CNBC Awaaz consumer awards, for endorsing nine brands. She is now the brand ambassador of the soft drink Fanta (replacing Rani Mukherjee), the chocolate Perk (replacing Preity Zinta), Virgin Mobile India (along with Ranbir Kapoor), Fastrack watches and accessories,LG mobiles (along with John Abraham and Abhay Deol),Garnier Light fairness cream, Dabur Vatika hair oil, Margo soap, and Spinz deodorant.
Controversies
In June 2010, she was the subject of a controversy, when a Tamil daily reported that she had attended the controversial 2010 IIFA Awards in Colombo.Several Bollywood actors and the South Indian film industry had boycotted the event, over the alleged killing of Tamilian civilians at the height of the conflict between the Sri Lanka Army and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in 2009. The rumours of her visit to Colombo started after her friend Ritesh Deshmukh was seen at the festival in Colombo. Immediately, various Tamil groups and Kollywood associations demanded her films to be banned.
In 2011, a controversy broke out for her film Force, in a wedding sequence scene of herself and John Abraham. Sources claim that the wedding ceremony and rituals conducted were so authentic that, that they would have actually been husband and wife in real life. Instead of a junior artiste, a real priest was called for the scene. Again, following the reports of Ritesh Deshmukh and D'Souza's marriage plans, the priest landed up at producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah's office to register a complaint. He insisted that the couple couldn't get married, as D'Souza has been already married to John Abraham, as all marriage rituals were observed, from wearing a mangalsutra (a sacred thread worn by Indian women as a symbol of their marriage), to exchanging garlands, and taking the seven steps around the holy fire. Shah dismissed the claims as a publicity stunt.
