The place of birth of Tamil actress Anjali is, Magalikuduru in Andhra Pradesh, India. Even though Anjali was born in Andra, she learnt her education in Chennai city of Tamilnadu. In the beginning, after the end of the studies of Anjali she preferred the modeling and once she has got chosen by the director Shiva Nageshwara Rao. Her first film entry was in a Tollywood movie, namely Photo, which was a thriller core story. Anjali says that she has pursued the cinema career which is the dream of her father.

Anjali's very first movie, Photo Anjali did a challenge role of a ghost who is haunting many. Followed by that thriller movie, Anjali acted in another Telugu movie namely Premalekha Raasa in the year 2007. But, unfortunately, both the first two movie of Anjali got failure in the box office. Then Anjali acted in her very first Tamil movie, Katradhu Tamil (Tamil M.A) pairing with Tamil actor, Jeeva. This first movie of Tamil actress Anjali was directed by Tamil cinema director Ram. This debut movie of Anjali in Kollywood, Katradhu Tamil got nice hit and Anjali got a strong launched good name as an actress in Tamil cinema industry too. In that period when the movie was in the cinema theaters, a famous media said about Anjali that,"a delight to watch and spellbinds the viewer with her beautiful fresh look and her performance", "a breath of fresh air" and "the perfect foil to Jeeva's plethora of emotions. In the year 2008, Anjali acted in her very first Kannada movie namely Honganasu. Then she acted in the Tamil movie, Aayudham Seivom pairing of Anjali with Tamil actor Sundar C. followed by that, she acted in the movie Angadi Theru under the direction of Vasantha Balan which has been the remarkable movie in her career so far in the year 2010. The character name of Tamil actress Anjali in the movie, Angadi theru is, Kani, a village girl who is working in one of the peak level business going retails shops of the metro City Chennai of Tamilnadu. The core story of that movie is, the struggles that the labors of that shop facing in the hot shopping road of Chennai, T, Nagar.

In the movie Rettasuzhi, the Veteran directors Bharathi Raja and K. Balachander had acted. Then she acted as the main actress of the Tamil movie Magizhchi, directed by Gowthamanan. Then she acted in the movie Mankatha in which Tamil actor Ajith Kumar is the main actor, under the direction of Tamil director, Venkat Prabu. Then Anjali paired with Tamil actor Jai, in the movie Yengeyum Yeppodhum, under the production of Tamil director, A, R Muruga dass. The acting performance of Anjali in the Climax scene of the movie, Engeyum Yeppodhum was a great show case for her performance. The latest release of Anjali's movie in Tamil is, Aravaan, under the direction of Vasantha balan who is the director of the movie Angadi Theru. Jyothika was born to Chander Sadanah, a film producer, and Seema Sadanah, in Mumbai, India. Actress Nagma is her half-sister. She completed her schooling in Learner's Academy, Mumbai. She later majored in Psychology at the Mithibai College in Mumbai.[citation needed] She also has a sister Roshini (born Radhika) and a brother Suraj, who is working as an assistant director for Priyadarshan.
Jyothika married actor Suriya on 11 September 2006, with whom she was paired in seven films; Poovellam Kettuppar, Uyirile Kalanthathu, Kaakha Kaakha, Perazhagan, Maayavi, June R and Sillunu Oru Kaadhal. The couple have two children, daughter Diya (born 17 August 2007)and son Dev (born 7 June 2010).

1998 – 2002
She made her acting debut in the Hindi film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna directed by Priyadarshan, but it did not do well commercially. In a 2000 interview with India Today, Priyadarshan said that he "lapsed into depression" after the film flopped.But her Performance was noted and she was nominated at Filmfare Awards for Hindi film for Filmfare Best Female Debut Award category.
Her first role was a cameo appearance in Vaali (1999) in which she won Filmfare Best South Female Debutant . Later that year, she starred in Poovellam Kettuppar, in which she played the love interest of the protagonist, portrayed by her future husband Suriya. The success of the movie Kushi became a turning point in her career and critics compared her acting to that of Savitri.A string of successful films followed between 2000 and 2002, among them Mugavaree, Dum Dum Dum and Snegithiye. She also acted with Kamal Haasan during this period, in the comedy film Thenali. She was awarded the Filmfare Best Tamil Actress Award for her role in Kushi. Her role in Rhythm though small, has been widely appreciated. After the success of Kushi she was signed to play the female lead in Friends (2001 film) opposite to Vijay,but she was replaced by Devayani. She collaborated with Mani Ratnam for the first time by appearing in his production house, Madras Talkies' romantic comedy Dumm Dumm Dumm alongside Madhavan. The film won positive acclaim and became a success not only in Tamil Nadu but also in Andra with its dubbed version. 2003 – 2006
In 2003, she starred in Dhool with Vikram, Kaakha Kaakha with Suriya, Thirumalai with Vijay, all of which did good business, Kaakha Kaakha in particular being one of the biggest hits of her career. She was listed amongst the Best Actress nominees in Filmfare Awards South for her roles in Dhool &Kaakha Kaakha. In 2004, she acted in a double role in the critically acclaimed Perazhagan opposite Suriya. In 2005, she acted in Manmadhan opposite Silambarasan.she acted in a double role for Perazhagan and received the Dinakaran Best Actress Award for it. In 2005, she acted in Manmadhan opposite Silambarasan and won accolades for her role in it including a Nomination for Filmfare award.
Her most successful film till date is the Rajinikanth starrer Chandramukhi 2005 in which she essayed the title role.She won several accolades for her performance in Chandramukhi including a Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, ITFA Best Actress Award, Kalaimamani Award, Dinakaran Best Tamil Actress Award,Nomination for Filmfare award. She also received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress for Perazhagan in 2004 and Chandramukhi in 2005. Kala master who completed the climax song for Chandramukhi with Jyothika praised her dancing skill although she was not a trained dancer. She was also offered to act with Mohanlal in Udayon directed by Bhadran but she couldn't do it due to buzy schedules in Tamil.The stupendous success of Chandramukhi made her more fame in Andra and they tried raise a temple for her.Her first release & first hit movie in 2006 was Saravana opposite to Silambarasan after the Megahit movie Manmadhan.Her role in June R was noticed before the release of the film.Jyothika's performance is fine tuned and emotionally engaged.She has underplayed her emotions beautifully.Her most hit films in 2006 include Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu, Super Hit crime-thriller film written and directed by Gautham Menon and Sillunu Oru Kaadhal opposite to Suriya.The former was dubbed into Hindi as The Smart Hunt.
